Bernie Ecclestone could see through the Bahrain race without much trouble except Force India team being stopped by a mob and their subsequent withdrawal from the second practice session. The race ends peacefully and the teams are happy to get away from Bahrain.
The rulers of Bahrain might feel proud of conducting the race but there are mixed emotions across the world with protests in major cities against conducting sports in places there is unrest. While sports has nothing to do with politics as many agrees I couldn't counter argue to one of the protester in London. Having discussed the race and politics, she simply said 'There is no place for sports in a place where something is horribly wrong'
That makes me think if Bernie was right to go ahead with the race?
I totally agree with your friend. Why would ppl, in the name of "sport" ignore what is going on in Bahrain? Horrible crimes against human rights shouldn't be tolerated..and noone should say, I'm just a sportman, I dont care about the killing here or there! You are a human being like those killed, tortured and opressed in Bahrain. Sport is about HUMANITY.. thanx for the post :)
