Can Pirelli decide on who wins Formula One

Pirelli, the tyre supplier for the Formula One season has come under intense criticism from world champion Michael Schumacher. Even Lewis Hamilton was not happy with the tyre degradation during the recently concluded Bahrain Grand Prix. This sudden criticism has put the manufacturer under pressure.

Michael Schumacher felt that the tyre degrades quicker than the previous version used in the last season and that affect the lap timings. The former world champion had the most tyre usage from drivers at the top end. Hamilton felt that around a second is lost when the tyre is old and that it might significantly influence the race results. Kimi Raikonen could have passed Vettel as the latter faced the degradation.

Pirelli's position is safe as they were advised to make changes to the tyres this year by the FIA. However, the competitors see this as a chance build their reputation. Pirelli dismissed the claims by concluding that the best drivers and engineers will win the race but every one has a fare chance to understand how to work the tyres properly.

Therefore, understanding the tyre and fitting it in to the right working conditions are the key to winning this year. Every team will have deal with the issues but equal opportunities are there for the teams. But it looks like the tyres will play a significant part in who wins the title this season.
